Inter went into their away match in Palermo this Saturday evening coming off a positive tie against Juventus. However, the Nerazzurri had not achieved a winning result at the Stadio Barbera since the 2010 season and they would need all three points if they wanted to keep pace in the league’s top spots.
Mancini fielded a risky but attacking minded lineup, replacing JJ and Santon with the speedy and offensive minded pair of Telles and Nagatomo. Moreover, the midfield consisted of Kondogbia, Medel and Guarin, with Melo getting a much needed rest. Questions still remain over Guarin’s ability to maintain his place in the team despite his serious lack of consistency.
Inter have had trouble putting the ball in the back of the net this season and Mancini was looking to reinstate some attacking confidence by unleashing Icardi, Jovetic and Perisic on Palermo. However, Mancio would have a lot to answer for if this gamble backfired. With no European commitments it is difficult to understand why Mancini has rotated his squad so often.
The match did not begin according to plan with Inter spending a lot of time under pressure. The attack consisted of hitting long balls to Icardi or Jovetic, who appeared to have miles of space between himself and the midfield. At the other end Nagatomo was giving his doubters plenty of material early on getting caught out, often leaving Medel or someone else in a position where they had to take a foul in order to recover.
By the 25th minute it was still 0-0 but in all honestly it could have already been 2-0 for Palermo. The Nerazzurri were getting beaten back by Palermo and looked completely out of sorts when moving forward. If it were not for a few key saves from Handanovic Inter would have been trailing. If one thing is for certain, whatever Mancini was thinking would happen with this lineup, he was mistaken.
The Nerazzurri came out in the second half without changes and were denied going up 1-0 early after a well-taken Jovetic free kick was saved by Sorrentino. However, it was clear that Inter were stilling having trouble breaking Palermo down. Mancini looked to react to this by bringing on Biabiany, who would add speed to Inter’s movement; however, at the expense of Kondogbia.
Inter took the lead soon after the change with Jovetic making a fine chip into the box to Biabiany, who squared the ball across the box to a wide open Perisic. Credit to Jovetic for seeing the pass and for Biabiany for making the run. However, the lead was short lived and Palermo were able to equalize through a Gilardino tap in after a Vazquez volley bounced through a sea of legs in the Inter box. The Nerazzurri were close to restoring their lead in the 75th but a deflected Guarin shot was miraculously palmed over the bar by Palermo keeper, Sorrentino. Inter were looking to go for it with Mancini subbing out captain Icardi for Ljajic. However, moments after the subs Murillo was given his second yellow after a Palermo player beat the Colombian and embarrassingly preferred to flop to the ground instead of going in alone against Handanovic. With Inter down to 10 men it became even more difficult to attack and hold possession.
Guarin was at in the mix again in the dying stages and had the whole net to shoot at but amazingly side-footed the ball wide of the goal. Moments later Ljajic sent Biabiany through but his shot was once again saved by Sorrentino, who had a man of the match performance this evening.
One can’t help but wonder what could have been in this match had it not been used as a science project by Mancini. If we want to win the winnable games this season, we need to put our best players on the pitch every single week. Full stop. Forza Inter.

The game summary:
Ljajic played for 15 minutes and created 3 scoring chances. Guarin played for 90 minutes and wasted every fucking single ball.
and idk how many 90 min he get until he make an assist or goal and his fans keep remembering that and saying me not Inter fans
Mancini rested some players because there is a midweek round of serie a
hope mancio will train the players for finishing hard, very hard. even if he tries to place guaro as a lone striker it’ll never be a problem, as long as his finishing is deadly
“If we want to win the winnable games this season, we need to put our best players on the pitch every single week”. Good point in this article.
Oh here it comes…fans start pointing fingers…if Guarin’s deflected effort went in the back of the net it’s all well and good.IMO it was unfortunate….the manner in which we conceded was pure luck.. The red card..I’m not even going to say anything about that.In a few more games I can see us going on another win streak to pull away at the top having faced almost all our direct rivals after next week apart from lazio and napoli…but seriously as fans we should wait until the JTW to pass judgement. WE ARE 2ND PLACE …before the season I’m certain any inter fan would have accepted that with both hands at this point so relax…Mancini made some errors but we didn’t have the slice of luck needed to win anyways.Icardi also is not looking himself..and I know it isn’t the captaincy as alot of you all are alluding to but the fact that he’s being starved of service and the other attacking players fail to supply him as well..without melo there’s nobody who can pass a decent ball to him consistently. Everyone is down Icardi’s and Guarin’s back but am I the only one who noticed how selfish Jovetic played? Sure he was instrumental in the goal we scored but many a times he could have passed to someone in a better position but opted for a solo effort. He’s much better being involved in quick passes and picking out teammates, don’t get me wrong he should shoot if a decent chance presents itself but it’s games like these that I miss the old palacio…he and Icardi works well and they know each other, hopefully with time I can say the same about jovetic and icardi but for now it isn’t working.Something’s got to give.Forza Inter!
Selfish or not, Jovetic is the only player that virtually undroppabale because he causes havoc in the opponents defense
Who was more selfish than Guarin? He went out of the way to avoid linking up with the forwards. Let’s hope Brozovic returns so that we can get all three points against Bologna.
he is right jovetic is too selfish, we need him to be selfless, it doesn’t matter if scores that often, as long as he sees the right pass and doesnt shoot from ridiculous distances. If he shoots when there is a cluster of opponents in the box thats fine, but doing it all the bloody time is frustrating. guarin needs to be benched he is too inconsistent. jojo vs sala, if sala had come we would have had a winger jojo is second striker. good player but we are trying to build the team around icardi not jojo. perisic and biabiany can form a good partnership. icardi upfront and ljajic as the playmaker. kondogbia and melo/medel as the midfield pivots brozovic as the rotating player not guarin and jojo comes on to unlock defenses and rotated with icardi or ljajic
Haven’t been here for a WHILE:. well, let’s be honest, MANCINI IS A SHIT MANAGER. HE HASN’T GOT BALLS TO KEEP the team up, Perisic plays as a second RB ,he thinks to defend, he plays Kondogbia as CM while he obv isnt good enough. He needs to play as CDM. Guarin a mistery.. always playing.. he gives nothing to the game.. anarchy player.. Brozovic or Gnokouri deserve to play .. then .. NAGATOMO??.. THe guy is fucking stupid, sorry. WE HAVE JOVETIC, PERISIC WE CAN’t SCORE. I ALWASYS THOUGHT HE WAS BAD, ALSO During his first experience. WIthout the best team of the tournamente he wont win. Look at what he achieved in Champions league..
Icardi has been really shit this year. Looks like the captain armband is a kryptonite to him. Mancio? Don’t know what to say anymore with his obsession to Lord Bird who has consistent inconsistency. Seriously, he played one good game per 7 games. If my counting was right, he would shine in the next game against Bologna.
guess its time to give Guarin captain in my fantasy league
Sack this shit Mancini!
We are gonna get screwed by roma nxt week
4-2-3-1 winning formation, we can’t lose with roma if we play 4-2-3-1
What the fuck with 4-2-3-1? There is no such thing as winning formation. There is not only one right path.
if we play deep against Roma, well be fine
Mancini needs to grow some balls, ASAP.
one balls for start with more attacking approach, 4-2-3-1 ?
another one to not start Guarin.
Icardi shouldn’t be the captain in the first place. It brings a lot of pressure and responsibility. It’s better to have Medel or Handanovic as the team captain.
Agree with you. He has been shit after becoming the captain
I agree, Handanovic should be captain. He’s cool as fuck. . . .
Well atleast he has experience something that Icardi doesn’t have
So damn pathetic!!!…We should have won this game but no fortune for us this time. I believe Thohir will fire Mancini and hire Mourinho and the history will repeat itself. Treble in 3-4 years….:)
Mancini you are frustrating, really. Finally he makes decent subs with Biabiany and Ljajić, and he fucks us up with playing Nagatomo and LEAVING GUARIN ON FOR THE WHOLE MATCH. WHAT THE FUCK.
He hates perfect I guess.
decent subs means sub Rano in when we really really need goal -__-
I seriously don’t know who is the one that must be blamed for this AWFULL match!
Mancini?Icardi? The entire attack?I seriously don’t know!I feel more dissapointed than angry!I realy wanted as to lose after this AWFULL and disappointing performance to shake the team?Mancini?Icardi? The attacking part of the team? The entire team?I don’t know!I seriously don’t think we deserved this point because we played REALY REALY bad!
The defence was amazing although and i saw a little bit of mistakes but the attacking part is awfull!
Mancini should be the one asking those questions to him self and not us!
The Cattenacio age is long gone if that what he is thinking of doing!
I see a lost and useless Icardi in the past 3-5 games and i don’t know who should be blamed for that!
If Mancio wants his team to go in score ONE goal and then do nothing i am not happy with it!!
Most of the XI were like headless chickens running around the field!
It’s sad!Icardi was a goal scorer and a goal creator and now he is playing like REALY bad and i think the blame is on Mancio!
I am nto pointing finger to anyone of our players nor the coach! But i think the should start asking them selfs what is up(?) and where do they want to end up(?)!Mancini doesn’t deserve 1 star same goes for our attack both of them MUST take half a star jsut for playing for inter!
