Goodbye Champions League, hello silenzio stampa and crisis mode. Those are the conclusions that can be drawn after Inter lose in the dying minutes thanks to a Babacar goal against Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence.
Inter are in a very deep crisis as this result ensures that Inter will miss Champions League football next season as well, something that the club had banked on given the start to the season. A club of Inter’s stature being out of Europe’s top competition for the 6th year in a row will have massive repercussions in the summer as many players like Mauro Icardi and Samir Handanovic will want to leave and the club will have to replace these players whilst trying to balance the books and not strain an already difficult financial situation. Mission impossible just got more difficult and what enfuriates Inter as shown by the media gag order issued by the club tonight, is that it didn’t have to end this way tonight.
Sure, Fiorentina dominated possession but that was expected and Inter defended very deep and well as things looked to be going their way, especially after Alex Telles miraculous save on the goalline in the first half as well as Handanovic coming up with the goods as he’s done all season. Things got even better after Kondogbia linked up really well with Palacio who served Brozovic for the first goal of the night when giving Inter the lead. And Inter looked good: solid in defense, balanced and compact in midfield as well as threatening Fiorentina on the counter attack.
That is until Murillo made a schoolboy error in defense in assisting Valero to the equalizer which sent shockwaves through the team as Fiorentina dominated more and more. Inter got back into it until an incredibly poor Mazzoleni decision to send Alex Telles off for a second bookable offence for a challenge that wasn’t even a free-kick, let alone a yellow card. This despite seeing and deciding to not give Kalinic anything when he elbowed Murillo in the face. Nothing new under the sun as no other team in the Serie A has received this many red cards this season as Inter has. None. More often than not for decisions which are questionable at best but the rug was pulled from under Inter’s feet when Babacar scored the winner when Inter yet again were unable to get the ball away despite Handanovic making two excellent saves.
Sure there 13 matches left and Roma are only 2 points ahead of us and we have to play them too although it will be very difficult as it’s away at the Stadio Olimpico. The problem isn’t mathematical, the problem is that Inter have won only 2 Serie A matches of the last 9 played, drawing 3 and losing 4. This is a mental collapse and there are no quick fixes for those, especially now when Alex Telles and Geoffrey Kondogbia received red cards and won’t be available for selection for at least 1 fixture, against Sampdoria next Saturday at the San Siro before traveling to the Juventus Stadium in Turin. Before then, Inter have the return leg of the Coppa Italia against Juventus which is of academic importance given how the Bianconeri wiped the floor with Inter in the first leg.
They say that it’s always the darkest before it gets lighter, that once you’ve hit rock bottom it’s only up from there. What’s really scary is that given this fixture list, Inter may have not even hit rock bottom just yet.

mancio warrior.
mancio – my hero !
Guys can you believe that in the last 9 matches we managed to get 9 points. The 3 bottom teams in serie A are Verona, Carpi and Frosinone. In the last 9 games Verona got 8 points, Carpi 9 points and Frosinone 8 points. We are in relegation form since the Lazio game lol.
and it looks like Thohir doesn’t want to change a coach in mid season..so we will be displayed poor performance until the end of the season..Oh God help us 🙁
Let’s see what happen in 5 more games. If Inter keep playing like this, let’s switch our focus for European League and prepare for the next season. New coach is a must. ( I read some shortlists of Mancio’s replacements like Simeone, Roberto Martinez, Frank Deboer, Montella, and DI Fransesco….. I’m pretty excited with Simeone or Frank DeBoer). And I think, Icardi should be released from his capitancy next season. Mancio put too much burden for him
we need more than a miracle even AC is right behind us, well let’s hope the best!
I think we should try to get Sousa…wow what a coach!
Told you guys, as long as mancini on the bench we will never win again..i prefer if he gets banned for the whole season and let sylvinho on the bench, we won against chievo right
The last paragraph give me shiver. Champions league spot/Europe yet again will be out of reach. And, given the recent performances, Inter will need a miracle to be in top 5, let alone top 3.
this overpriced coach need to prove his worth in rubentus game. that scum gonna break Mancio’s 17 win streak, so I hope they can fight like their life on that game
sure. It should be reflected in our last 13 games. Coz the other top4 or 5 clubs in the league showing it.
I think he’s done.
He’s clueless and out of guts, just experiencing random ideas without any clear plan. Adding to this -don’t know because of his divorce process or what- he created a poisonous atmosphere in the dressing room.
yup. I guess he trying to make a hunger games. the BALKAN’s vs LATINOS
lol
But honestly, he lost the control of both groups.
So you have decided to give up the season? Many games left and many things can still happen, both good and bad. Since you’ve given up I guess you can stop writing.
This is a good article bro, at leat as a reminder so that i shoulnt talk too much when we are winning and leading.
Face the reality bro, 9 points in 9 easy games sums up our season.
and rube going hard at it with bilan roma napoli also on form
Don’t wanna believe this, but the worst is coming…
yeah, the worst is coming as long as mancini on the bench..next two matches will be sampdoria and jube..believe me, we will probably get only one point
Whatta pity, in 40 days we lost everythiiiiiiiing…
the way to continue competition to gain more points only by sign and announce new manager for next season, and leave mancini alone to fix his records on the rest of matches for future career.
i want to believe but last match was turned up my mind, the coach, the players they seems pessimistic just like the fans. we’re officialy lost our soul after winter’s break
have you seen our fixtures for the rest of the season? yes, we can safely say we wont be in the CL, once again

Look at the last 11 games!Mancini should have 5games to see if he will be kept!If the team performs like shit he should be sacked if the team PERFORMS like a CL team then keep him!The players are here but i am not sure about the manager!
There is no reason to blame the ref’s we have been playing like shit!
It hurt’s seeing Inter like that but FORZA INTER ALL THE WAY!
Looks like there is a poisonous atmosphere in our dressing room. Nobody is calm and focused and surely it’s the coach’s fault.
Mancini had lost the dressing room since lazio game, that’s why we will never win again with him
Yeah that’s right and all of it starts because of his poor decision making and stubbornness!
Too bad the ref is not rated, he would have gotten a whole 0.5/5. And I’m not blaming ref, this is on us, the players and Mancini, but the ref was an absolute shithead as well.
we gifted them both goals
