Several Brazilian sources report that Santos attacker Gabriel Barbosa, or Gabigol, is on the verge of signing for Inter. According to Globo Esporte, Gabigol will arrive in Milano later today accompanied by his father as well as his agents Wagner Ribeiro and Guiliano Bertolucci to finalize the transfer.
Globo Esporte reports further that Gabigol wont join Inter until January thus staying with Santos until the end of the Brazilian season. Piero Ausilio offer of €25 million, superceeded Juventus offer of €20 million, where €18 million goes to Santos and everything above that sum goes to the attacker who won Olympic gold at the Rio olympics.
ESPN Brazil also confirm the move but add that it was made possible after Gabigol’s father gave the final go ahead to the transfer as Santos had accepted both offers from Juventus and Inter, however in the end Gabigol and his entourage opted to choose Inter over the Bianconeri as the Nerazzurri simply outbid Juventus.
The deal has also been confirmed on Twitter by Lola Wanata, who works closely under Erick Thohir, tweeting that Inter have also signed Joao Mario, stating that both players should arrive in Milano at 14.30 CET later today. The Joao Mario transfer is yet to be confirmed from either Sporting or Inter as well as from any news sources in Italy or Portugal.

This will be one of the worst transfer in my opinion. The hype behind this guy is just too much. If he was Polish or French or so, he´d be worth like 7 Million to be fair. But because he is Brazilian, the price is inflated with the hope he is the next “Neymer”. Every year we hear about players being the next Messi. Luc Castagnios was the next Anelka, Belfondil was the next Benzema bla bla bla.
This guy is unproven in Europe. We cannot gamble for that much money.

We can do better things with 25 Mil. Bring in Maurinho and we won´t win anything with players like D´Ambrossio, Nagatomo and Rannochia. Instead of getting rid of these players, we get rid of our best full back JJ.
I´m personally not a fan boy of Jovetic but I´ll take him any day of the week over Gabigol.

One more thing….I am not a fan of “young players” (except you are Icardi or Neymer). Jube, Bayern, Barca don´t win the league with a couple of Kovacics and Gnoukuris. Young players should be developed in Pascara, Novara, Bari…. Not in a high level when we MUST win games.

Yes the two of you Juventinos would deffentily get along fine over a beer or two… Gabigiol is 19 years old and scored a lot of goals in the strongest league in South American, he needs a lot of work but hopefully well be a great player today, and honetsly- 25 mil for such a young talented player isn´t much in todays transfer market!

Actually no. A proper coach tailors his coaching style to his players, not the other way around. You can’t force a Cambiasso to play as an AM when he’s never played that role. Kind of like how Kovacic was thrown around everywhere except his preferred position which is in the middle of the field.
Gabigol is fine, he’s got a lot of talent and an excellent work rate (matches and practice). Players that fail have one or the other or neither (Balotelli…).
brasil sells their “brand name” and NOT many good players.
avarage players are made stars by using media propaganda and deceiving videos … when they come we see they are many times worse than domestic players …
Now get a FB/CB!
Options: Caceres, Darmian or Criscito.
The most feasible option is Darmian (loan) or Caceres (free). Darmian can play both sides (RB/LB) and Caceres is also a versatile defender (FB/CB)

If Gabigol doesn’t arrive till January then we should keep Jovetic at least till then. We have Europa League as well. We can’t count on Palacio as Icardi’s only alternative.

To be honest I don’t expect much from gabigol, at least this season. Joao Mario can be very good for us, but the key positions to strengthen are CB and FB and I don’t see much action being done regarding them.
