Interviewed on Inter Channel after the match, Frank de Boer claimed that the victory with Southampton was crucial:
“Less possession? A choice or you play compact or you go to press up. We chose to stay compact, I want to see a team that plays with a lot of discipline, today I saw a team with a big heart and a lot of discipline. For me this is very important. We must definitely improve, especially with the ball, not good in the first half, then better and also a great goal by Candreva. The team had discipline, but after the expulsion went in trouble. We have a fantastic goalkeeper, he proved it today, he is one of the best in the world for me.”
“We must learn from our games, today we played well but not for the full 90 minutes. Perhaps only with Juventus we played a disciplined game throughout the match. In the other matches, were only 70 minutes for example. We have to change. Today we decided to stay compact, to press when needed, but first we had to be compact and then our chances would come. Southampton is physically stronger than us. What is lacking in the team? We need to keep our discipline for the whole game, not just for a part. We need to improve in this.”

discipline? hell no. I saw a nervous team, desperate.
we had a compact shape but our pressing was dreadful and our interceptions were horrible, the point of staying compact is that it gives you a better chance to close the space and take the ball in vulnerable areas, we did the former but we didn’t do the latter
I saw a team with no heart and little ideas. One shot on goal says it all.
This Inter won’t achieve anything this season if they keep playing like this. At least we won’t relegate to Serie B at the end of the season. Still the only one in Serie A, yeah… Not like rubentus and its i miss marco branca cunt. They can go fuck themselves, crash and burn in hell, you son of a bitches!!!
I think he need to tweak his tactics a bit, if possible we need to press and stay compact at the same time..
it’s hard but with the right attitude it can be done
For EL, pragmatic approach is more important. Playing ugly with bagging home 3 points is hell more important. Even IF we ever qualified, winning could bring us as far as we can get in EL.
BUT, in Serie A, playing good and winning is both equally important. It is important for us in developing our game, and improved weeks in and weeks out.
Always the same talks from this guy. This game could have finished 1-4 easily. You should kiss handa’s ass. He saved your head. Don’t bullshit us with this compact good play. We were awful and pathetic without an idea of how to attack and no midfield. Sorry I like you but you keep disappointing me fdb
Look at our bench.. This isn’t fdb fault..let’s hope we pass to the next stage kdog joao and gab can join the squad
I guess somebody or something has to be blamed by some fans. He forgot that FDB played Mancini’s last season squad at EL. Only Candreva was the newcomer and he made the difference with his goal.
“Today I saw a team with a big SHIT “
Today I saw a team protected by God! How on earth didn’t Southampton not score tonight? It was Southampton vs Handanovic.
Man this FDB is an excellent coach !! he is so good that he should be offered Soccer’s first 10 year contract and keep at Inter so that this team will be continuously crap for the next 10 years while Juve wins 15 scudettos in a row and have 5 stars on their jersey before inter can get to 2 !!
Next season…wait next season. If only we still stick with Mancio, we already 2nd place in the end season. But if FDB makes 2 season, Inter definitely will win Scudetto
i heard this 5 years go and nothing changes for Inter !!!
Erm, we are soooooo lucky we didn’t lose this match. We were totally outplayed and the team made way too much mistakes, they just didn’t capitalize their chances. And Handanovic is a God. But I sure as hell didn’t see a disciplined team giving its heart out. We were just lucky, I can’t see us winning in England again playing like this.
Are you serious! When these teams beat us BY LUCK! I don’t hear you all saying this or that team was lucky! Juve won the league for years greatly by luck, not that they aren’t the best in the league but they are very lucky. Just take the win and htfu.
Juve won the league and keep winning it cause they have a better long-term policy, cause they built their own stadium, cause they’ve been working in the right direction for years now, cause they have a team that doesn’t break down mentally every 2 games. Now I dare you to call me their fan, cuz right now I’m only 95% sure you have no idea what you’re talking about. I wanna up it to a hundred.
Shittt, we need this winning for self belive. All other thing is up to club dicide. We just fans, buy original jersey to support Inter, your opinion is wasted.
Really! I never called you a juve fan! I am just saying juve were and still is a lucky team. Like that 1-0 two weeks ago. Deflected goal but as I said they at the best in the league
in fact we need to kick AC out of our stadium- then things may change—
Exactly my friend. Finally someone who understands football.
Couldn’t agree with you more my friend. Luck and miracles from Samir keep us going. Is like the opponents can create clear chances every single time they attack. I have never seen such a fragile defence. We would be conceding at least 3 goals every game if it wasn’t for Samir.
that save from vergil
It’s called ugly win. Hell yeah, we’re back.
Maybe it’s better if we play ugly as fuck every match. As long as we just you know win lol. Let’s go Mancini style all over again we need it.
Yep bring bk Mancini.
Lol, I never thought I would say this but, we miss you Roberto! Please come back. I didn’t mean when I said we should sack you. You are the boss compared to this dutch clown.
You cunt..make up your mind…
You fuckin idiot. We wanted Mancio out but they gave us something even worse. So fuck the management and fuck you bitch.
Agree, now is even more ugly
Winning is the most important thing for us. Ugly football or beautiful football doesn’t matter anymore if three points secured. IMHO, FDB does not need to reinvent the wheel or even copy Mancini’s things to start collecting points. He only needs to start reading the history and reveal grande Inter DNA once again. Catenaccio, deadly-counter attacks and never-die attitudes were our bloods during Helenio Herrera & Mou’s treble era. What he has to do now is stabilize the dressing room, collect points consistently and improve the squads gradually. No need to do spectacular things every week. We can do it later.
