Inter came back twice in the Derby della Madonnina to draw 2-2 against AC Milan at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district. Suso scored a brace but saw both goals cancelled out in the second half when Antonio Candreva scored an absolute screamer first followed by an Ivan Perisic equalizer in the 91st minute.
Samir Handanovic – 5,5: Was only ever asked to do anything twice: both times Milan scored but can’t be blamed for either goal where his defence let him down.
Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6,5: Second best Inter player of the night. Made few mistakes & his crosses were actually pretty good. Please keep this up Danilo!
Gary Medel – 6: Had 100% passing accuracy when had to be brought off due to injury. Should be given more chances in central defence when recovered.
Joao Miranda – 5,5: Humiliated by Suso for the 2nd goal & made by his standards an unusual amount of mistakes yet worked hard to make amends.
Cristian Ansaldi – 4,5: Horror show tonight. Basically gifted Suso space to pick his corner & generally all over the place. Brought off in 65th min for Nagatomo.
Marcelo Brozovic – 5: Seemed unable to make simple passes or deliver decent balls from dead ball situations. Correctly subbed off in 75th min for Jovetic.
Geoffrey Kondogbia – 5,5: Looks slow, sluggish & caught out of position many times. Works hard but it’s simply not good enough. Needs to do much better.
Antonio Candreva – 6,5: His sometimes wasteful shooting is forgiven for scoring an absolute screamer. Looks much more comfortable when played centrally.
Joao Mario – 5,5: Deployed as a trequartista in the 1st half which resulted in him being invisible. Played deeper in 2nd half & so he did better.
Ivan Perisic – 6: Scored the equalizer in the dying minutes of the match making amends for missing a sitter in 1st half. Very important for Inter right now.
Mauro Icardi – 5: Completely invisible for the entire match bar 1 occasion when kicking air instead of ball. Still hasn’t scored against AC Milan.
Jeison Murillo – 6: Came on in 36th min for the injured Medel & made amends for his mistake which led to Milan’s 2nd goal by assisting Perisic to 2-2.
Yuto Nagatomo – 5.5: Was brought on for after Ansaldi’s horror show & actually was an improvement. Can’t cross to save his life but didn’t lose the ball either..
Stevan Jovetic – 5,5: Replaced Brozovic & despite not directly being involved in anything clearcut his presence & movement caused problems for Milan.
Stefano Pioli – 6: Gameplan almost entirely backfired when Milan took lead twice due to in part his formation but also meant that Inter controlled derby.
Inter’s performance – 6: Takes a lot of mental strength to come back from behind twice in a derby where you’ve been dominating. Important point mentally.
Paolo Tagliavento – 5,5: Far too picky & waived his cards a little bit too much. His bookings of Kondogbia & Kucka were cheap to say the least.

Terrible Ratings Nima… Lol.
I can agree with all ratings, even if it’s very subjective thing and matter of personal understanding of football! But just can’t understand how Jovetic presence caused problems to Milan?!?! When was obvious that this substitution turn out to be useless and bad decision!
What happened to the studio inter podcast???
I would give Icardi a lesser rating for his easy 2misses in 2nd half, 1st half chance was behind him and won’t blame him for that. His rating should be equal to and not less than Ansaldi’s rating, who I believe continues to look awful. So if Ansaldi’s rating was lower that’s what Icardi should get.
Icardi is not going to score or have an assist every match that’s not realistic, people just need to realize that. Our other player’s need to step up and score at times, which they did this game…Icardi has scored or had an assist in about half the games he’s played (8 out of 17games). That’s better than majority of players in the league. Better than like Higuan/Bacca/Bernardeschi and on par with like Salah/Dzeko/Insigne.
Kondo made an assist, played with whole lots of energy and motivation, recovered countless balls in the midfield, and now gets 5.5
Icardi was invisible, lost 2 golden chances from 2 meters, gets 5!
Thus, this rating is bs.
Which game did you watch?? Kondogbia with an assist? Candreva scored by himself and after a throw in, and Perisic scored after a Murillo header.
He played clumsy, sluggish and was slow as a cow.
Pretty harsh on the midfielders, also Murillo was in no way a 6 and he didnt make the assist.
Thought the ref was pretty bad actually… But okay.
Also I think should get more credit for wanting to take responsibility in midfield. Something Kondogbia doesn´t at the moment. Broso had alot of fine passes around the pitch and deserves more than 5 – especially since Kondogbia, who sucked big time, got more than him!??
Why Brozovic, Mario and Kondogbia have so low rating? They didn’t allow to Milan to leave their half in first 40 min. Of course they have some brainfarts but it’s normal, they are still very young players.
IMHO, if we have to be honest Joao Mario was awful as trequartista and it’s probably because that’s not his position!
The rating is rubbish! How come Murillo get 6 and he was the worst player after Ansaldi. Perisic and Joao Mario should get 6.5 because they were the source of danger and Canderva was the best of all. Icardi was completely out of the match as he lack support, I guess 4 is fair enough. Kondogbia was also good he should at least get 6.
I love to see Kondogbia became a successful player for Inter but he did lost a lot of possession yesterday by trying to play the way the superstar play.
He can play like that when he good enough to play like that. He should look at how Joao Mario approach his game and how he play his roles.
Right now he should listened to FdB advice, keep it simple. Then perhaps slowly build from that.
Its pretty useless to keep the ball and always tried to beat 2-3 opponents before passing the ball (most of the time when an earlier pass will bring the same or better impact).
The team always lost good opportunity to break opponent’s defence when Kondogbia decided to waste time dribbling around players at his own sweet time.
The unpleasant thing is, when he lost the ball due to opponents pressing (coz they know what he likes do when he have the ball and how to beat him), the team lost its balance, the defense were exposed to dangerous quick / rapid counterattack that usually result in an attempt on goal.
If my memory served me right, at least one of their goals was sparked by Kondogbia losing possession.
I hope he will be given consistent playing time (not necessarily 90 minutes of play in every matches) and take every opportunity to improve himself and the team.
You make good points.
I want to find a way to defend him. Truth is he is immature. Even after FDB’s chastising he continues to be oblivious to the consequences of his play.
Although in an ugly game such as that of yesterday, he looks decent in a scrap.
Nima, I appreciate your effort but your gradings seems biased upon what you like about players. Kondogbia was good tonight, getting involved in much of the play and had several aerial chances to score. His defensive play needs more sharpness though.
Hold on, Kondogbia gets a 5.5, while Icardi gets a 5?
Ya more like Kondogbia gets 6 and Icarid 2-3 cuz once again he was completely absent for 89 mins.
Perisic goal was assisted by Kondo though, not Murillo.
No, Murillo try to score. But his head shot wasn’t very accurate and turn out to be assist to Perisic!
