Inter want to reduce the current squad size from 29 to 22-23 players. According to Sky Sports, Roberto Gagliardini is also included in this number despite the difficulties with concluding the deal (2M, according to Atalanta, would not guarantee the transfer including 25 bonus).
As for player departures, Yao and Assane Gnoukouri are the names that are loan listed, while certainly Felipe Melo is headed to Palmeiras – Stevan Jovetic to Sevilla; Santon to Sampdoria; Ranocchia to Palermo or Sassuolo, while Banega has attracted the attention of a couple of teams in the Chinese Super League, clubs which the Nerazzurri are ready to sit down at a table with and discuss the Argentine’s price tag.
Each operation is important to help reach the target budget for June, a goal that Suning expects to be able to reach. Then, in the summer, Inter and Suning can work without the restrictions of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play and start to think of names like Verratti.

why are they even considering Banega, he just has 6 months with us, he deserve a chance… Flopdogbia should leave immediately-
I’ll jusy say that everyone saw what he’s capable of against Lazio, would be stupid to sell Banega
Pioli wants balance and wants to play his favourite 4-3-3 system and in that system Banega has shoved he doesn’t fit in! He needs freedom to roam around and to have players behind him in a 4-2-3-1 system to do the dirty work for him so he can concentrate on setting up attacking moves and nothing else.
He´s a luxury player like Sneijder and these types of players do really not fit into any big team in any of the biggest leagues now a days! 15-20 years ago they might have had, but today everyone needs to do his bit when the team is without the ball and not only when the team has it.
It seems like Kondogbia will get more space now Melo is leaving to play behind Broso and Mario, or maybe we´ll spend the Banega money on a regista (Biglia!!)!
We have won 4 in a row now playing with more balance in the team/midfield and for the good of the team I’d sell him – yes he was great against Lazio, but no one will miss him if he leaves for China if we get in a class regista in his place!
I’d be curious to see if it’s possible to run a sort of hybrid 4-3-3 system where the left and right wings, normally Perisic and Candreva, could be replaced with slightly more central left and right attacking mids, Banega and Candreva. Like you mentioned in a different comment section, Pioli does prefer his wings to play more towards the middle anyway, hence why Perisic is having issues. Replacing Perisic with Banega and allowing him to stay forward a bit more could help with his biggest issue right now, which is as you said, his contribution off the ball. Granted his cover down the wings wouldn’t be as strong as Perisic or Eder’s, but with both Brozovic and Kondogbia behind him, it might just work.
It could work IF we get a strong left back to close the hand side down more of less on his own because of Banega’s lack of back tracking – the only thing about this is – De Boer already tried him in that pos. and it didn’t work – neither were our left full back strong enough to go the work by himself (Santon) nor was the defensive midfielder fast/cleaver enough to be in the right pos. either (think it was the “as fast as a turtle-Kondogbia” who played there)
True, realistically the issue still falls on the incompetence of our fullbacks and holding midfielder. I think Banega was always meant to fail under De Boer because he expected too fast of a pace for Banega to keep up with for a full 90′. With the energy of Brozovic, and a competent fullback like Rodriguez or Darmian behind him, Banega could succeed in that position. He has too much class to be wasted on the bench because of his defensive liabilities which should be made up for elsewhere!
Jep. Banega needs a team to be build around him like it was at Sevilla and in the Argentinian National team but that´s not the way any big team work today. Now a days EVERYONE in the team needs to work both ways – just look at Costa from Chelsea!
I don’t think the team needs to be necessarily built around him, but it does need a certain level of quality all around the pitch to grant him the freedom he needs to be successful. I’m thinking back to our treble side, where Sneijder was allowed to play similar to Banega because of how solid the rest of our midfield was defensively, not to mention our back line as well! Having Brozovic, Joao Mario, and Kondogbia behind you isn’t the same as Thiago Motta, Stankovic, Muntari and Cambiasso! The only one of our current top three midfielders that is defensively responsible enough to get that job done is Joao Mario. Brozovic shows a lot of energy in defense, but very rarely is directly responsible for dispossessing an opponent. Kondogbia, well, who the hell knows what to expect out of him right now, but I think most would agree he has been the biggest issue. He is our only true holding midfielder now that Medel is in his more natural position of CB, but doesn’t do well at his primary objective, which is to break up plays before they reach the back line! This is why I think signing a holding midfielder like Luiz Gustavo would dramatically change the way this Inter can play.
Agree with you all the way, he needs a quality team behind him to flourish and I too would like us to take Gustavo to have behind Broso and Banega and then Mario could play on the wing in stead of Perisic- think that could work.
But Gustavo isn’t coming and maybe cashing in on Banega in order to invest in Rodrigues would solve a lot problems right there; the left back problem, and the kondog, Broso andmario could keep on playing in their favorite positions
After the game v Udine, I’d much rather see JM replace Candreva, not Perisic. With that being said, it seems like Suning have made some new sponsorship deals that may allow us to spend more in January without a big sale like Banega! Hopefully, we can get Rodriguez without losing Banega, and for the firs time in a long time, have the issue of choosing who to play because there are multiple GOOD options!
They have? Hmm are you referring to the sponsor deals they made before Christmas? The rules implemented from Uefa are pretty clear; an owner or a company affiliated to the owners may only make sponsorship deals with the club they own up on til 30% of the clubs yearly revenue… we made around 200mil euros last year so that’ll be sponsorship deals around 60mil euros – no, more (if I’m correct). And we currently are in minus 30 mil which has to be made into a big fat zero by the end of June!
I’m referring to this article: https://sempreinter.com/2017/01/07/cds-suning-already-resolved-ffp-problem/
Ever penny of these 30 mil the two sponsorship deals are worth will be used to cover the same amount we are in red… meaning they may balance the budget, but any player transfers are not covered by these money but needs to be found by selling players…
Yes, but if well Santon, Rannochia, Nagatomo, etc, etc, a single large sale like Banega might not be necessary to afford Rodriguez’s 22m release clause now!
Don’t think anyone wants to pay for these players now in January. They probably will leave on loan until next summer. But we will save their salaries which can be spend on Rodriguez’s transfer
Yes to the first 4, I’d keep Banega.
Go rano go
i prefer to keep Banega at least until the season end
King Icardi_1908 – “an absolute class midfielder” — that is exactly the problem at inter ! “expert-morons” at inter are even not aware of the fact that team has no whatsoever “how-to-play-plan” on the pitch. playing football at inter is left to random developments and creations of players and the team has no creative individuals in its structure.
there is nothing one can recognize like “inter style of playing football” in positive sense. player like banega really has wandered into inter. inter does not understand his wishes and efforts to be creative and organize the team,….
wow you literally couldn’t be more wrong if you tried nozanetti. I guess you’ve never watched Banega play for sevilla or argentina. Also, winning the Europa league 2x back-to-back years had a lot to do with him. When Inter signed Banega for free last summer a little piece of all Europes top clubs died inside. Its not Banega’s fault inter is on its 3rd coach of the season. The team has been in transition. New league, multiple new coaches and playing styles, etc. Now we have Pioli who has finally given inter solid ground to work on from a physical, mental and technical standpoint. The squad is strong and is only missing a couple smart signings from taking the next leap forward. Im very intrigued by Gagliardini–young, Italian, strong, all things that are great for inter and also fuck juve. Suning are taking Inter back to the top. Inter is a family of a long history of legendary players, amazing achievements, and everything that makes the club one of a kind in world football with a tradition born out of respect and acceptance to men of all nations. Internazionale. Fratelli del Mondo. You either are or you aren’t. Clearly, you are no Interista.
“I guess you’ve never watched Banega play for sevilla or argentina. Also, winning the Europa league 2x back-to-back years had a lot to do with him.”

I bet you’ve watched banega much more than me.
watched but not and —- understood.
did you watch inter against “some clubs” in spain some days ago ? inter has NO organized team and game-plan in defence, middle and attack… pioli’s work ?!?! “some spanish” low level clubs easily play against inter, easily drives inter defence crazy, easily repel inter attack… I was watching it until some “anonimous spanish” scored their 2nd goal from penalty… going on was too frustrating for my taste. looking inter without any sane organisation at the pitch, playing “as it comes, randomly “,…
read the analyse article form press about it I pasted somewhere … that’s inter now. the club that wants something, but has no clue how to do it.
—————
“Im very intrigued by Gagliardini” — why? what are his achievements ?!?! playing for low level italian club ?!
belfodil, taider, pereira,.. how many of them ?
Clearly, I AM NOT STUPID AND BRAINWASHED internista, you are absolutely right ! don’t talk me that BS phrases about glorious history. I want that NOW, history is for books.
Why is it that no big clubs wats benaga. ?? because he’s shit now,,,,
Sell banega only for min 50 mil
Benaga is getting to old and is only going to deteriorate inter milan need a mixture of 21 to 27 year olds no 32 or olders in my opinion theres a reason why inter milan got benaga on a free transfer and no other bigger European clubs tried signing him! Obviously its because benaga is no longer the player he was 4 years ago so anybody who thinks we will be able to sell benaga fo 50 to 60 million is delusional and stupid, !! no club will pay over 15million for benaga!
Calm down, it is china, thats why i asked that much
Melo, Jovetic, Santon, Ranocchia can all go but Banega is an absolute class midfielder who has been in Serie A for half a season and cost us nothing. He’s finally looking like he’s settling in the squad and is developing great chemistry with his fellow Argentine Icardi. Inter needs champions and a deep squad. Luckily the dark days of Lord Kuzmanovic, Obi, Schelotto, Jonathan, Silvestre, Rocchi are over. Unless we get an offer we absolutely can’t refuse… keep Banega. Trim the fat!! Don’t sell the good meat!

there is no starting spot for him once Gagliardini comes. i’m all for the transfer if its 25m+

I don’t want Banega to leave. But if an offer worth 60 Mil or more to comes, I say we take the deal.
The rumoured price is around 15m….
Why banega though? Sell biabiany and kondogbia before even thinking of letting banega go. Melo, jovetic, Palacio, santon/Dumbo/nagashit, biabiany and kondogbia should all go this winter.
We need a younger play maker who can run faster and longer than benaga and is more hungry and motivated to win benaga is in inter for a free holiday, , he is or was a very good play maker but he doesn’t fit in to inters plans of playing a fast young cutting edge midfield with young fast players like joao mario, perisic, candrava, iccard gagliardini, bernadeshi, berradi, Rodriguez young fast players
