Stefano Pioli spoke with Inter Channel on the Roma defeat: “For the whole 90 minutes the ability to counter a quality opponent must remain but also the intelligence to handle certain situations in which they were more ready even though they had not played better. We had opportunities to score and everything would change. We paid dearly for situations in which we could be more careful. The two goals from Nainggolan? He is a quality player, but we must not allow certain situations. We have to start right away.. There are 12 games remaining, we have to work better and start faster. The important thing is knowing how to immediately get up. I repeat: Roma showed more quality in the final third, here we have to improve.”

Although we lost, I still believe that Pioli is able to bring our Inter to the UCL next year. When we curse the coach, the players and the team for one single defeat, after the great winning streaks, we actually are not the real fans. Come on guys, there are still 12 matches to play. Next week I am sure Napoli will be beaten by Roma too because they are getting tired and they have extremely busy and difficult matches (Agaist Juventus {Coppa}, Roma {SERI A}, and MADRID {UCL}. We also still have a home match against them. The players must work even harder to ensure victory in the next matches.
You mister fucked up the line up. I am sorry but the 3 man defence did not work as perisic and candreva had to play deep and defend most of the game which made clueless when attacking. Plus J Mario form is getting worse game by game. Should have been substituted half time. My opinion.
I don’t know what the exact problem is with inter but obviously the current squad is not good enough to beat or compete with the likes of juve and roma let alone making the ucl and playing atletico.real.barca, bayern etc,,,, im interested to hear what our fellow inter milan supporters think of our performance tonight and what inter need to do to be able to beat roma? What new players do we need to buy?who do we need to sell in your opinions? Please give me your opinion on this subject because it’s extremely disappointing to see inter comprehensively beaten by a better team in juve and roma because we must defeat these teams if we are to be champions again
1 thing I have noticed is inter have lots of good players but they don’t have the superstar difference maker who can score brilliant individual goals like nangolin did or like mileto use to do or a robben, lewvindowski, Ronaldo, higuain, etc,,, my point is I don’t think iccardi is this superstar difference maker wo can dominate or change the game individually and as good as iccardi is inter milan need a dominant strong individual who has this ability because looking through our side we have heaps of good players but no great players joao mario, candreva, perisic, iccardi, k dog, gagliaddini, benaga, palacio, gabigol, murillo, miranda, can anyone honestly say these players are good enough to be a superstar? No I can’t unfortunately,,,, so when it comes to transfer market I believe inter must no questions asked identify 2 or 3 superstars and make it a priority to sign at least 1 or 2,,,, yes it will cost lots of money but if inter sells some of these good players they have and use the funds to bring in in somone really good like griezman or alexis sanchez I don’t know exactly who the right superstars we need to buy but we must stop buying average players
agree. i think sunning will be ready for that next season, must start now to find those kind champ players. 2-3 three players inspiring enough to levelize team spirit. at least their age around 27-29 and experienced in italian, unfortunately i just see juve, napoli, n as roma players and that will be extremely difficult and expensive. if looking abroad those could be from club like chelsea, liverpool, madrid, psg, or barcelona.
Agree with you completely, what we are missing is the difference maker, but specifically in midfield. I think with time, Joao Mario may be able to be that player, but we need that type of player NOW! Roma have a very similar squad to us on paper: Dzeko and Icardi are both target men/poacher type strikers, Perisic and Salah are both pacey wingers with equal goal scoring and playmaking ability, Strootman and Gagliardini are both very consistent, well positioned box to box midfielders and we might even have a better three at the back line (Murillo, Medel, Miranda v Manolas, Fazio, Rudiger). The big differences between our two sides are Nainggolan and Joao Mario/Brozovic/Banega, De Rossi and Kondogbia, and Florenzi/Bruno Peres and Ansaldi/D’Ambrosio. The glaring difference is at fullback, which every Interisti and their grandmother is aware about, but I think many Interisti have a false sense in the decisiveness of our central midfield. In my opinion, the only central midfielder we have that is definitely CL quality is Joao Mario. Gagliardini has the potential to be, but I need to see improvements from him in the final third. As for Banega, Brozovic and Kondogbia: Banega is too lazy and only wants to work when the ball is at his feet, which is unacceptable for his talent level and position in Serie A, Brozovic has shown to be a difference maker from time to time with some nice goals, but what aggravates me about him is that if he’s having a bad game he’ll mope around the field like a prima donna instead of hustling to make up for it, and Kondogbia, even with a good deal of improvement this second half of the season, is still prone to stupid mistakes, which often snowballs into more stupid mistakes, and doesn’t protect the back line in a way that a defensive midfielder should in big games (ie De Rossi). These are the positions we need to improve on to take Inter to the next level. For fullbacks my favorites are Ricardo Rodriguez and Barreca for the left, and Ricardo Pereira and Conti for the right. For defensive mid my favorite is Krychowiak (he isn’t playing at PSG and would likely want to leave in the summer), but I also like Fernando (Spartak Moscow, ex Sampdoria), Danilo Pereira, and William Carvalho. As for the center attacking mid, not to be confused with a trequartista (which happens quite often, the difference being a CAM having defensive duties while a trequartista stays forward), my favorites are Eriksen, Tolisso and maybe Coutinho. This, in my opinion, is going to be the most difficult position for Inter to fill unless we qualify for CL. All the established, high quality players in this position are already at top teams, so Inter either needs to qualify for CL to help draw them here, get lucky with a player desperately wanting to leave their current club, or take a risk on a younger player like Pellegrini. If we can fill all of these positions during the summer, and hold onto top players like Icardi, Perisic, and Handanovic, we can compete with the likes of Roma and Napoli, and maybe even give Rubentus a scare!
This is what I’m hoping for our full line-up next season:
Icardi/Martinez/Pinamonti
Eriksen/Joao Mario
Perisic/Eder Candreva/Berardi
Krychowiak/Medel Joao Mario/Gagliardini
Rodriguez/Dimarco Pereira/D’Ambosio
Acerbi/Medel Miranda/Andreolli
Handanovic/Meret
Id love beradi in candreva out or on bench, I haven’t seen muh of tolliso,, krychowiak in would be great,,, strikers Martinez I haven’t seen much of but heard he’s good so yeah sounds good
As would I: Candreva is too wasteful for my liking. Tolisso is a classic box to box midfielder: he excels in the air and winning back the ball to start counter attacks himself. Krychowiak would do well in this Inter and in Serie A. with is strength and passing range. Martinez looked great in highlights from China, but it’s China so only time will tell!
Monaco have some great players that are young and they will be looking to sell at the end of this season as they always looking to sell for a profit, I love there left and right backs sidibe and mendy they are fast very skillful attacking fullbacks like maicon was when younger, bakayoko In holding midfield is great too also fabinho can play central defense or holding midfield and is very consistent but id love to see bernardo silva in inter milans midfield next to joao mario bernardo silva is excellent player and is going to win french ligue a player of the year monaco also have a great young striker ancilian Mbappe who is exciting skillful and looks like the next thiery henry, plus monaco and inter are familiar with transfers after kondogbia signing so they will be happy to do business with us,, just on kondogbia I was a huge fan of him at monaco andhe was great the next viera a superstar,,,, I don’t know what ever happened to him? In ucl for monaco he was excellent too.ohh well…but yes I agree interista 13 any of or all the additions you mentioned would be great for inter lets hope suning pull out the cheque book this summer,,,
Agreed, Monaco has some excellent talent, and so does a lot of the Ligue 1. Teams like Nice, Lyon, and Toulouse are also producing some excellent young talent. Ligue 1 is an excellent market for Inter because many of their top young players have European experience, especially at Monaco and Lyon.
mentality absolutely the most problem of inter, that’s the reason why we always need great manager. but in fact, to get good mentality need to get more convincing result when facing big clubs. make more goals against lower club maybe can help.
I don’t mind Inter lose from big team like Juve or Roma, as long as we can keep winning from the weaker teams. For decades, I’ve been supporting Inter, I do worry when Inter can beat Juventus (like Strama did), but lost to the games from Cagliari, Chievo, etc. We must admit, for the time being, Inter squad depth is still far from competent to compete with Juve or Roma.
