Why pay 40m for a player we already have? Gagliardini is nearly identical in play style to Strootman, and will be at his level in another season or two. That’s not the type of player you need two of in the first team: they are best paired with a box to box or anchoring defensive mid (ie Kondogbia or Krychowiak), depending on the competition, not another holding midfielder.

Hmm great player but is he really what we need? We have destroyers for central mid, like Kondogbia and even Medel. We need a playmaker in the central park, someone to help out building play…
I wouldn’t consider Kondogbia or Strootman destroyers: Kondogbia is more of a box to box defensive mid, a very unique type of player, somewhat similar to Matuidi, and Strootman is a holding midfielder, similar to Schweinsteiger.
Medel counts as a CB now and thats the way it should be, but ofc he can also contribute in the midfield if necessary. Kondogbia and Gagliardini are enough for us in my opinion. J.Mario plays higher but if Gagliardini or Kdog are out he can fill in easily.
I see Strootman as a player who posesses great passing abilities and defensive work. Altough I’m worried about his injury history. Wasn’t he out of Roma squad few long periods due to serious injuries? So maybe we should look elsewhere.
Lets just snap Isco from Real, his contract is running out 6/2018. 25-30M should be enough. Same kind of a steal which Real did when they took Kroos form Bayern.
Strooman’s injuries are probably Roma’s fault!He faced the same injury 2 or 3 times in a row it’s like the Doctors we had before mazzari came(with the Millito issue that’s another sotary i know but i am jsut saying)!
