Inter target Ricardo Rodriguez was dealt a blow as he limped off against RB Leipzig at the weekend. Wolfsburg have since confirmed that he has ruptured his tibiofibular syndesmosis in his right foot and will be out of action for a number of weeks. Speaking to the Wolves official website the Swiss defender said: “For me there is bitterness that I can not help the team in the coming weeks. Now I will try to concentrate on rehabilitation and I will make every effort to return as soon as possible and be available for the team.”

Some players really changed after injury.
Santon is the near example. He wasn’t what he used to be before the bad injury
Imagine santon actually becomes world class and zanetti pass that armband to him
his price will go down
Probably,but,will he recover his form 100% ?
And,if he does’nt,would we still want him?
This injury is BAD news! The layman’s term for his injury is a high ankle sprain, which doesn’t sound too bad, but in reality it is. Due to the amount of support the syndesmosis provides to your ankle, it is required to be non-weight bearing for 6-8 weeks after surgery, surgery also usually requires hardware (plates, screws, etc), and he’ll need at least a few extra weeks of physical therapy considering he is a footballer. With all of this included, we’d be lucky to have him back and “ready” by the start of the season if we sign him.
Should we just go to someone else?
Will see in a few weeks.
Maybe this can help us to get a discount on Rodriguez, and we can manage with Ansaldi for the start of the season. If we do choose another option, I personally like Barreca (Torino), Ghoulam (Napoli), and Masina (Bologna).
Ghoulam is really good..but..hard to see De Laurentiis just giving him to us . ,very very hard, unless we make an offer way above his fair market value,or give him some really good player he wants it won’t happen.
Agreed, he has a lot of interest from big teams outside of Serie A, including Real Madrid, so the likelihood of us getting him is extremely small.
It is nice to have medical student or doctor or physio as interista

I’m an orthopaedic researcher, so I know the basics at least.
Is surgery absolutely mandatory in these cases?
Sometimes I wonder if one could recover without it,in a couple months of rest and therapy ,and if surgery actually ends up making things worse sometimes, in the long run..for someone who must have 100% physical recovery as professional sport player.
Is’nt this one of those cases where surgery it’s a 50/50 call?
Just asking.
I am not sure at all.
Not always, but whenever you see the term “ruptured”, it usually means surgery. Fortunately some reports have come out stating that Rodriguez’s injury is not as serious as initially reported, and he’ll likely only miss about 5 weeks.
