After enduring a period of poor form, Antonio Candreva was back to his best on Sunday afternoon against Atalanta. According to La Gazzetta della Sport, he proved his worth to Inter by adding quality and working for the team’s benefit, even if he did not score himself.
He created two chances for Éver Banega, both of which the Argentine finished emphatically. Apart from his two assists (he now has seven in total), the former Lazio winger crossed the ball seven times and created four goalscoring opportunities.
The 30-year-old has shown that Stefano Pioli’s decision to change from 4-2-3-1 to 3-4-2-1 last month had a negative impact on his performances. Since the coach reverted to a four-man defence, Candreva has become much more influential again as he is no longer hamstrung by added defensive responsibility and positional uncertainty.
