Mental coach Stefano Tirelli, who also tutors at Milan’s Cattolica University spoke to Corriere dello Sport. Tirelli examined Inter’s goalscoring success in the last 15 minutes of games where they’ve managed to score eight times in seven games: “This “skill” is the result of two complementary conditions: physical and mental. The muscular efficiency that allows you to make the right decisions is important, but also the mental one. The latter is one of the main aspects I work on with my athletes: I ask them to always offer an effective performance, whether they are 3-0 up or 3-0 down.”
He added, “Luciano Spalletti is of great importance because the players see his behaviour, feel his breath on their neck and respond accordingly as a team, whereas last year there were 11 individuals on the field.”
