In the lead up to this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina, Inter defender Joao Cancelo has previewed the match in an interview with Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Portuguese defender firstly spoke on his life at Inter, which started with very little play time due to an injury.
“I was not disappointed because I was not playing, I was disappointed with myself but now the time has come, I think I have used the opportunity to my benefit and I always try to give everything for the team.”
The Spanish league is more technical than Serie A, but here the league is more difficult. I’ve learnt a lot of new things on a personal level and it’s starting to be a good year on an individual basis and I hope it can be collectively too.”
“I have learnt a lot from Luciano Spalletti and I am very grateful to him, he is strong, he does a lot of work and always tries to have us play good football.”
He then proceeded to discuss the derby.
“We are a great team and we will try to win. We have a team capable of qualifying for the Champions League, it will take work and it is easy to talk about but we have to prove it on the field. I think Gattuso is doing a good job, they are a good team.”
