Stefan de Vrij has rejected offers from Barcelona and the Premier League in favour of joining Inter this summer according to the latest reports.
Corriere dello Sport report that the Dutchman wanted to remain in Italy and a move to Inter all but guaranteed himself a starting berth each week, something that could not be guaranteed elsewhere. Remaining in the Italian peninsula will also allow him to carry on in a league that he knows well.
The Roman newspaper further report that everything is already done in terms of contract, with the 26 year old set to pen a five year deal for the Nerazzurri upon the expiry of his current contract at Serie A rivals Lazio. He will receive a base wage of at least €4 million, which also includes image rights.
Inter have long followed the former Feyenoord central defender, who has been near ever present in Simone Inzaghi’s Biancocelesti side making 31 appearances across all competitions this season to date.
