Former Inter owner and president Massimo Moratti has shared his thoughts and feelings on Walter Sabatini’s departure, which was announced yesterday, in an interview with TeleLombardia.
“I do not know much about the Sabatini affair but he was an added value for Inter due to experience but he will have his reasons for leaving. Suning will have the strength to go on anyway even if it will be impoverished by the lack of his experience. I am an Inter fan and us fans can stay calm, it is a displeasure but the company has the strength to move forward.”
Sabatini and the Suning Group reached a mutual agreement yesterday over the early termination of the former Roma sporting directors contract. It is understood that Sabatini was unhappy with his lack of control on the transfer market, the idea of self-financing and the lack of concrete support behind him from the Chinese owners.
Moratti also played down talk that he could possibly buy back some of his shares in the club from either Suning or Erick Thohir.
“At this moment, I am not thinking about that. The current shareholders have the strength to carry everything forward.”
