Inter Defender Bastoni Expects Another Loan Move Next Season

Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni has described playing at San Siro as ‘a dream’ but admits that he expects to head out on loan again next season, despite having curtailed his stay with hometown club Atalanta.

Bastoni joined the Nerazzurri in a deal worth up to €10 million last summer and was immediately sent back to Bergamo on a two-year loan, but Inter have opted to cut the loan spell short after he struggled for game-time during the 2017-18 season.

However the 19 year-old has said that it is unlikely he will be playing for Luciano Spalletti’s side during the upcoming campaign, opening the door to a second loan move in Italy’s top flight.

“I think it’s [too] early for me to go to Inter and stay there,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport on Sunday.

“Playing at San Siro would be a dream but there’s time for me to fulfil it, not least because there are a lot of great defenders at Inter.”

Bastoni made just four appearances for Atalanta’s first team last season, with a total of 87 minutes on the pitch.
