On the 24th of August 2008, Inter’s then newly appointed manager José Mourinho won his first title in charge of the Nerazzurri when the Nerazzurri defeated Roma via a penalty shootout in the Supercoppa Italiana.
Roma’s coach back then was a certain Luciano Spalletti who could do nothing but look on as Inter captain Javier Zanetti scored the winning penalty after Giallorossi skipper Francesco Totti failed to convert his.
Inter decided to highlight this win via the club’s official Twitter account tweeting out a video of the match with the caption: “Shoot the first penalty of your career at the age of 35. Score. Win the Supercoppa Italiana. A formality of your name is Javier Zanetti.”
