Santos loanee Gabriel Barbosa has revealed there is no bigger motivation than playing for Santos and that even if they were forced to just play friendlies he would still have the same desire.
“We are playing in Santos, a huge club with a big fan base, there is no bigger motivation than that and even if we only had friendly matches until the end of the year, we would all have the same desire,” the 21-year-old remarked in an interview with Lance! after the Peixe’s elimination from the Copa Libertadores, South America’s equivalent to Europe’s Champions League.
The Brazilian striker is on loan from Inter – who he joined in 2016 in a €30 million deal – having struggled to adapt to life in the Italian peninsula which led to him making a return to his homeland with his boyhood club, where he has managed to replicate some of the form that led to Inter buying him in the first place.
