Ahead of Saturday’s match between Bologna and Inter, Corriere dello Sport have compared Inter captain Mauro Icardi to Bologna manager Filippo ‘Pippo’ Inzaghi during his playing days, most famously at Milan and Juventus.
“If Maurito scores thanks to his technique, his physique and his acrobatic skills, Superpippo done it with instinct, cunning and hunger. Inzaghi closed his career with 156 goals in 370 matches in Serie A, an average of one goal every 0.42 matches whereas Icardi has even better numbers since he is at 110 goals in 192 matches that is, one for every 0.57 games.”
The duo never met on the pitch as players but have met when Inzaghi was the manager of his beloved Rossoneri on two occassions, with both matches ending as draws.
That record could be set to change however due to Icardi’s recent unbeaten record against Bologna which stretches to eight games across all competitions with four wins and four draws. Moreover, Icardi has four goals against the Rossoblu, two of which arrived at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
