Inter Shouldn’t Take Politano’s Ability From A Dead Ball For Granted

Matteo Politano’s ability from a dead ball situation is not something Inter should be taking for granted a report from Gazzetta dello Sport details, recalling Inter’s inability to take full advantage of said situations in recent years.

Prior to Ever Banega’s free kick goal two seasons ago, Inter had went some 465 days since last scoring directly from one. Last season Inter went one better as Marcelo Brozovic and Joao Cancelo both found the net from a free kick.

However, the 465 days is not even the longest period Inter have went without scoring a free kick. Inter went some 605 days without a free kick goal between Christian Chivu’s in 2013 and Hernanes’ in 2015.

When you compare Inter’s ability at free kick’s to others in Serie A it is fair to say that they are behind. Reigning champions Juventus can call upon a range of players who all have a high chance of finding the back of the net from a free kick such as Miralem Pjanic, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala. Roma have a deadball specialist in Aleksandar Kolarov while Napoli have Dries Mertens.
