Bergomi: “Fiorentina Won’t Be An Easy Opponent For Inter”

Former Inter defender Beppe Bergomi has warned the Nerazzurri that they face a stern test when they take on Fiorentina at San Siro on Tuesday evening.

Luciano Spalletti’s side secured a much-needed win on Saturday when they defeated Sampdoria courtesy of a stoppage-time goal from Marcelo Brozovic, but they have little time to celebrate their success as Serie A prepares for its first midweek round of the season.

Fiorentina continued their positive start to the campaign with a 3-0 win over SPAL last night and Bergomi, who made over 700 appearances for Inter in all competitions, does not expect his former side to have everything their own way on Tuesday.

“Having won these last two games Inter now have the match with Fiorentina ahead of them,” he told Sky Sport. “They certainly won’t be an easy opponent.

“Stefano Pioli’s side are a team that play good football with a very low average age, which means they’ll be fresh.

“All of their performances this season have been positive, with the exception of the last 10 minutes against Napoli [last weekend], where they settled for a draw and got punished for it.”
