Current Inter president and minority shareholder Erick Thohir will leave the club by October 26 according to a report from the tycoon’s native Indonesia.
A report from Okezone states that once the annual shareholders meeting takes place in the coming weeks he will sell his shares to Inter’s majority shareholders Suning and use the money acquired to buy in to English League 1 club Oxford United.
Reports from within Italy in recent weeks have suggested that once Thohir leaves and vacates his presidential position, Steven Zhang, the son of Inter and Suning owner Jindong will take over from him.
However, Okezone’s report states differently. The Indonesian outlet understands that current vice-president of the Nerazzurri Javier Zanetti will instead be promoted and become the 21st different president of the club in their 110 year history.
Thohir became Inter president back in 2013 when he bought a majority stake in the club from Massimo Moratti. Ever since becoming a minority shareholder upon Suning’s entry in to the club in 2016, it has been a matter of when rather than if he would be leaving the club.
