Inter had a great start to the game and many would argue that they went behind to a wonderful strike against the run of play. Then Radja Nainggolan showed his class and Inter went in level at half time. The Nerazzurri fought hard in the second half and some great work by Icardi meant that they had come down from a goal down for the second game running in the Champions League.
Samir Handanovic – 6.5: The goal was a brilliant strike, he had a warning shot before too. However that double save in the second half redeemed him. Didn’t look in command.
Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6: Didn’t attack enough. Because Inter defended too narrowly he was caught out a few times as well. Some of his limitations are fatigue related surely.
Stefan De Vrij – 7: Absolute rock in the heart of the defence. Always in control, always cool headed no matter what happens around him. Cant ask for anything more.
Milan Skriniar – 7: Just like De Vrij, calm and collected. Also made a couple of forward runs with the ball which showed us his all round capability. Mountain.
Kwadwo Asamoah – 6.5: Lozano troubled him all night. Kwadwo knows his game and played within his zone of comfort and with all his experience he managed a good game.
Matias Vecino – 5: On the ball he is very wasteful. Missed a great chance in the first half, gave the ball away all the time too easily. He gets an assist but that’s all Mauro.
Marcelo Brozovic – 6: Not the usual Brozo. Not helped by Vecino’s poor night on the ball, he gave it his all but his passes werent pinging Perisic or Politano.
Matteo Politano – 5.5: Not a one trick pony tonight. Effective on certain occasions. Good defensive work, decent set pieces. Needs to up his quality in attack.
Radja Nainggolan – 7: He’s still nowhere near his best but when the chips were down he raised his game, moved about everywhere. Great strike at the stroke of half time.
Ivan Perisic – 5: Ivan didn’t look tired at the start. The ball isnt just sticking to him as it usually does. Had a poor outing in attack but put in a shift defensively.
Mauro Icardi – 7.5: Mauro had 9 shots on goal and could have got a hat-trick. Tried setting up his team-mates and got the winning goal from pure grinta. Brilliant.
Borja Valero – N/A: Came on to help Inter assert control in the midfield.
Antonio Candreva N/A: Candreva won a free kick and corner which helped Inter run the clock down late on.
Luciano Spalletti – 6.5: Got his players in order at half time but even before they scored Inter played some great football. A comeback win again shows mental strength.
Milorad Mazic – 7: Never lost control. A lot of referees would in this type of game. Some 50-50’s could go the other way. Good decision on the Handa handball.
Inter – 6.6: Didn’t get a 90 min performance but this time the dip came after their goal which is understandable. Never looked like losing. GRINTA!
Agree? Disagree? Who do you think was Inter’s best player of the night?
