Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport commented on Inter’s 3-0 win against Champions League spot rivals Lazio on Monday night at the Stadio Olimpico.
“There was no contest, Inter was just too strong – even stronger than they were in the final game of the 2017/2018 season when they secured the fourth Champions League spot during the final minutes of the “do-or-die match” against Lazio.
“If it was hard to separate the two teams five months ago – both regarding the result and the way of playing – yesterday it was not. Two goals from Icardi and a missile from Brozovic, the gap between the two teams couldn’t have been greater.
“This was the 6th consecutive victory for Inter in the league, who now is growing exponentially. Inter has re-gained the ground on Napoli and has now the same possibilities as Ancelotti to challenge Juventus for the Serie A title.
“Now the league is divided in two parts, the first three seem to be from another planet and then there is the rest. Lazio just was not there yesterday and entered the game badly. Inzaghi’s Lazio can not keep up with the good teams, and this is not enough if the club wants to reach the Champions League. Although Inter is a hard team to play, no one expected Lazio to lose by three goals without even putting up a fight.”
