So far, the UEFA Champions League has been gold for Inter in terms of financial success Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reports in today’s paper.
This is something that in Inter’s case is more than welcome after several years of poor revenue streams and according to the report: “With 180 minutes remaining of the group stage, all four Italian teams including Roma, Inter and Napoli has a chance to reach the knock-out stage, something that would be worth around € 250 million in total.”
But this forecast is not totally reliable because of the club’s shares in the market pool that is hard to quantify precisely: “The Italian market pool is worth around €50 million where €25 million is distributed according to the ranking of the last Serie A where €10 million went to Juventus, €7.5 million to Napoli, €5 million to Roma and €2.5 million to Inter, the other € 25 million will be distributed in June when all the games have been played. The English market pool is 40% higher, the Spanish and the French are worth 20% more and Germany’s around 15% lower. In any way, participating in the Champions League is like winning, especially for the four big nations England, Spain, Italy and Germany.”
As for Inter, after 4 rounds of the group stage, the net revenue is around €42 million. Should the team qualify for the knock-out stage the revenues would be around €53-57 million, not to mention the additional €50 million in the pot that could bring Inter’s revenues to about € 107 million.
