Inter’s 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur last night in the Champions League has put somewhat of a dampener on the seemingly imminent announcement of the appointment of Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta for Inter president Steven Zhang according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.
Zhang was hopeful that he could have announced Marotta with Inter’s place in the Champions League knockout stage secured but the defeat last night means he will be unable to do that.
Marotta is expected to be announced shortly and could well be in place as Inter’s new chief executive starting tomorrow.
Marotta recently opted to go separate ways from Juventus after eight years at the club where he played a crucial role in their domestic dominance. Almost as soon as that announcement were made, reports began to surface that Inter would be his next destination and it now seems like this is just days away from becoming a reality.
