Cagliari director Mario Passetti has confirmed that Nicolo Barella will be going absolutely nowhere this window and will remain at least until the Summer despite alleged interest from a host of clubs.
“We continue to talk about him, we do interviews often but obviously we can not be clear enough. We reiterate that he will remain for the next six months and then in the Summer we will see what happens,” Passetti told broadcaster Rai Sport.
“We have important ambitions and Nicolo is happy to be at Cagliari and it is our intention to not sell Barella in January.”
The Italian international is one of the top up and coming midfield talents on the planet and has attracted interest from Napoli, Inter and Chelsea in particular.
The 21-year-old has made no less than 20 appearances across all competitions this season for the Sardinian side and has scored one goal in 1773 minutes of action.
