Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reflects on the unique evening that played out at the Meazza yesterday, which was filled up by about 11,000 children who were noisy and happy regardless of the final result.
At the San Siro the children behaved well, they did what was expected of them: they cheered for both of the teams, they screamed and laughed and they filled the silence without poison and they waved their scarves.
Inter responded to the closure of their stadium in line with this story: The Buu dei buoni, the slogan Brothers Universally United. The logo “Buu” was to be distributed, the idea was that perhaps we can pass beyond that horrendous night on boxing day, because in the history of the Nerazzurri there have been some quality initiatives.
In the middle of the field, before kick-off, the words “Brothers of the world from 1908” could be seen, but it is one thing to see how the club have reacted and it will be another to see the Curva Nord which was now deserted.
History is dominated by issues and cases of discrimination and on December 26th, it hit Inter and these thousands of children are called in to treat the wounds left from that night.
It was in all senses a successful experiment; it was like seeing flowers in a greenhouse. Hoping that they do not become carnivorous plants by taking a look at the rest of the world.
