José Mourinho: “My Arrival At Inter Was Perfect”

In a long interview in the beIN Sports studio, former Inter manager Jose Mourinho has spoken on his possible next steps in management following his recent sacking from Manchester United.

Firstly the Portuguese spoke on when he works best.

“When I work I do not listen much to what people say. As a manager I can be happy or very happy: to be at my best I must be very happy, only in this case I can give the best version of me. This also applies to press conferences, I can only get the best possible preparation when I am enthusiastic about my work. At conferences you do not win the games, but you can create the right atmosphere.”

Next, he was asked about media speculation about falling out with players of clubs he managed throughout his career.

“Have I ever had a heated debate with a player? [laughs] Nothing has ever happened to me with Modric, Zanetti, Materazzi, Lampard, Matic…I can go on for two hours with examples of players with whom I’ve never had a fight with.”

He proceeded to reveal he has already had offers to come back in to management.

“I will not ask for players or money at the next club I go to. I will ask only about what I can be given in terms of structure and support.

“Will my future be in the Premier League or abroad? I do not know, it depends. As I always say, you need to analyse many factors. I do not like talking about these things, but I have already turned down three offers because I did not feel the right time had come.

“My arrival at Inter, for example, was perfect. I left Chelsea between November and December, in February I signed my contract with Inter and until June I studied everything. In four months I learned the Italian language, which is still the language that I speak best apart from Portuguese. I was informed about everything related to the club, the opponents and the league. So, even now I will still do this: I will prepare myself for the next experience, which will make me really happy.”

Mourinho, who won a famous treble while in charge at Inter, spoke further on his time at the helm while looking at the current state of Serie A.

“In Italy at the moment the fight is only for the second position, but usually you have to fight every day in that country. This year Juve won the title in September. It seems that Inter is destined to get second, but between Napoli, Inter and Roma there is always a fight for this position. When I was there was a major fight, there was a better Milan, a better Roma: I had a lot of fun in Italy.”
