Despite being about to turn 35-years-old, Samir Handanovic has not lost the desire to continue playing but it is only right that Inter put plans in place for once Handanovic does either leave the club or hang up his gloves entirely according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport
A recent study highlighted that no player has played more than Handanovic in the past five years and he remains one of the top shot-stoppers in world football. This season he has recorded the most clean sheets in Serie A and second most across the top European leagues with only Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson keeping more.
The Slovenian is still under contract with the club through to 2021 and have already got some young goalkeepers in mind who they intend to allow to fight it out to succeed him.
The Nerazzurri will activate a buy back option in order to bring Andrei Radu back to the club from Genoa while the will also complete the permanent transfer of Gabriel Brazao in the Summer transfer window. Neither play is quite ready to takeover Handanovic’s throne and Inter seem willing to stick with Handanovic until either player reaches the required level.
