Milan city mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala has spoken on the recent speculation that the Milanese clubs could decide to build a new stadium entirely.
“I have always told Inter and Milan that if I had to choose, I would prefer them to work on the San Siro stadium,” he is quoted as saying by ANSA.
“It is clear that they rightly say that it will not be easy to manage a season or two of the league with work in progress, so they have also proposed the idea of a new stadium next to the current one.
“We await a concrete project and that can only arrive from the two clubs,” he continued.
In conclusion, he was asked about how he would feel about seeing San Siro demolished in the event that the two clubs decide to go down the new stadium route.
“It depends what the project is in. In Madrid for example, Atletico Madrid’s new stadium is extraordinary.”
