Big Shoes To Fill For Inter Striker Lautaro Tonight In The Milan Derby

Lautaro Martinez has big shoes to fill tonight as Inter take on Milan in the second Milan derby of the season, Corriere dello Sport detail.

The Argentine youngster will be replacing compatriot Mauro Icardi, who has not played since February 9 as a result of the ongoing saga between himself and the club which has seen him stripped of the Inter captaincy.

Icardi has scored Inter’s past five goals against the Rossoneri and was the match winner in both of Inter’s most recent successes over their city rivals.

The Rome based newspaper are well aware that the players are not the same and have different characteristics to the other and have labelled tonight’s derby as the ‘Lautaro derby’ rather than ‘Icardi derby’ as they typically would.

Lautaro has always shown a willingness to speak with teammates throughout the game, drop deeper in order to get the ball and play with his back to goal whereas Icardi tends to just lurk around the penalty box and is capable of capitalising on even the smallest of opportunities.
