La Repubblica have revealed the details of how Inter and Mauro Icardi have reached a truce after over a month of high-tension.
“In the end the mediators win. After days of trials and tribulations and pressure, they succeed in convincing the two real last contenders of this strange game in Luciano Spalletti and Mauro Icardi to accept a truce without conditions,” it begins.
“The coach will welcome his most important player back into the team while the Argentine will silently accept that he will not get back “his” captain’s armband. Both will agree to suspend hostilities and proceed towards a future whose horizon, at the moment, does not seem to be longer than the next two or three months.”
The report goes on to state that Inter president Steven Zhang played a crucial part in this truce being reached after he met face-to-face with Icardi on Sunday prior to the Milan derby.
Zhang listened to what Icardi had to say and the Argentine, for the first time in over a month, then began to feel important again after Zhang spoke with him.
La Repubblica’s report concludes that there are no problems between Icardi and 99% of the dressing room. Only Ivan Perisic continues to have a problem with him.
