The mayor of Minerbe, Andrea Girardi has discussed the phone call he had with Inter winger Antonio Candreva’s over paying for the meals of one student.
Candreva got word of an eight-year-old girl who was unable to pay for her school meals and was therefore forced to eat just tuna and crackers and the Italian winger has stepped in and offered to pay for them as well as assist with other problems at the school.
“He called me last night. He told me he wants to pay for all of this year’s meals for the girl in question, but not only that,” Girardi began an interview with La Repubblica.
“He also proposed to remedy the other situations that we have. There are more than 30 people a day who do not pay out of 200 students. He understands the cost of it all as a meal voucher costs €5.40. Every family, on average, pays €4.50.
“I was surprised by my phone call with him. His voice showed great interest in the matter. He wanted to know how many others are in this situation and offered to pay for everything. We are currently working out the numbers and will let him know.”
