Lautaro Prepares To Make Inter Return Against Roma

Lautaro Martinez is ready to return to action for Inter on Saturday night as the Nerazzurri face Roma in Serie A, Gazzetta dello Sport reported today.

The 21-year-old missed three matches after sustaining an injury on international duty, before remaining an unused substitute for the 3-1 win over Frosinone last weekend.

However, Lautaro is almost certain to start at San Siro tomorrow with Mauro Icardi forced to settle for a place on the bench.

“Saturday’s match will ratify Lautaro’s new status as Inter’s first-choice striker, and he’s raring to go,” Gazzetta said.

“His rival for a place in the starting XI will never be an enemy though, because Lautaro and Icardi’s friendship has resisted even in the tensest moments this season.

“Those who frequent Appiano report how Icardi is looking very calm at the moment, having accepted his new role in the squad for the last few weeks of the season.”

Victory on Saturday would all but guarantee Inter a spot in next season’s Champions League, with six points separating themselves from Roma in fifth before kick-off.
