Ceccarini: “Inter Pushing Hard For Conte, Icardi’s Departure Is Not Obvious”

RMC Sport director Niccolo Ceccarini has spoken on Inter’s pursuit of Antonio Conte with the Nerazzurri looking to bring in the former Chelsea manager to replace Luciano Spalletti.

“The wait is almost over. Conte’s future will soon be clear. The scenario is taking shape,” he began.

“The Juve hypothesis has definitely cooled down in the last hours because the president Agnelli is not convinced by the idea of a possible return.

“Inter are however pushing hard for Conte. The Nerazzurri have been moving for some time to understand the room for manoeuvre on the former coach of the national team. They found the answers they were looking for to go on in the negotiations.

“The project is to raise the level again and try to win the league starting from next year. The last triumph was in 2010 and we are talking about a magical year for the Nerazzurri colours, when, with Mourinho in command of the ship, they secured the historic Triplete of the league title, Coppa Italia and Champions League.

He then progressed to talk about Inter’s plans for the fast approaching Summer transfer window both on the incoming and outgoing fronts.

“Marotta and Ausilio have already established the plan to strengthen the team. Chiesa or De Paul for the attack, Barella or Rakitic for the midfield and Danilo for the defence.

“It is obvious that question marks remain about Perisic and Icardi’s futures with the club. The Croatian will probably go away while Maurito’s departure is not so obvious.

“Whoever wants Icardi will have to present a great offer.”
