Inter have not lost hope of beating Juventus to the signing of Federico Chiesa despite acknowledging the Bianconeri are currently ahead, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Sky Sport last night reported Juve had agreed personal terms with Chiesa on the grounds of a five-year deal, drastically reducing the Nerazzurri’s chances of securing the Fiorentina forward.
However, Gazzetta today said Piero Ausilio and Beppe Marotta will attempt to persuade Chiesa to choose Inter by stressing the importance he would have in their team under Antonio Conte.
“Chiesa is considered the perfect player to help Inter make another step in their development as a club,” they wrote.
“Juventus have made their move and Inter know they have ground to make up, but they’re trying to do it quickly.”
Inter met with Chiesa’s father Enrico a few weeks ago and explained how the 21-year-old would be their star player going forward, something they believe Juventus cannot guarantee given their already star-studded squad.
The Nerazzurri in any case face a difficult task convincing Fiorentina to sell him to San Siro, however, because they aren’t willing to meet the Viola’s €70 million asking price.
The only way to reach a deal would be to include players such as Andrea Pinamonti or Yann Karamoh, who could be useful to Fiorentina.
