Stefano Sensi’s seemingly imminent arrival at Inter will have no effect on Inter’s long pursuit of Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella as per a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.
Inter are close to agreeing terms with Sassuolo over the Italian international midfielder, who looks set to initially join the Nerazzurri on loan with Inter having an option to turn the move permanent for €25 million.
Bonuses attached to the deal could make it €30 million and Edoardo Vergnani and Andrew Gravillon will head to the Neroverdi as part of the deal.
The two clubs are expected to meet again over the coming week with the view of closing the deal. Sensi could sign for Inter as early as Monday or Tuesday next week.
The report from the Milan based newspaper reports that Sensi will put pen to paper on a five-year deal worth €2 million per season.
Moving onto Barella, Cagliari remain adamant that they will not budge from their €50 million asking price for one of Italian football’s top prospects.
Inter’s most recent bid for the midfielder consists of €36 million up front with a potential €4 million in bonuses. Inter do not want to go any higher and are hopeful that the player’s strong desire to join the club could help get a deal over the line.
