Joao Mario has edged closer to the exit door at Inter after giving his approval to a move to Monaco, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Inter want €25 million to avoid making a net loss on the Portuguese international, who joined from Sporting Lisbon for €40 million in 2016.
Monaco have offered a paid loan worth €3 million and obligation to buy for €18 million, meaning the clubs’ valuations are not too far apart.
“Joao Mario has never convinced in an Inter shirt,” Gazzetta reported this morning.
“His tactical flexibility has rebounded on him and ensured, along with his lack of grit and determination, that he has never found a suitable position or enjoyed consistent game-time.
“Every period of good form he showed was followed by a spell of poor performances.”
The 26-year-old spent the second half of the 2017-18 season on loan at West Ham, after Inter failed to find a permanent buyer.
The Nerazzurri could soon be rid of him though as Mario is reportedly keen on signing for Monaco.
