Standard Liege General Director Confirms ‘Advanced Talks’ For Inter’s Vanheusden

Inter are finally on the verge of selling defender Zinho Vanheusden to Standard Liege after the Belgian club’s general director confirmed they were in ‘advanced talks’.

Vanheusden has spent the last 18 months on loan with Standard and will now join them permanently for €13 million.

Inter will keep a buy-back option for the 19-year-old but Alexandre Grosjean insisted the player was extremely important to their plans going forward.

“We’ve decided to pursue a permanent deal for Zinho and we’re close to completing it,” Grosjean told RTBF.

“There are a few details still to be resolved but I really hope we can complete the deal. We’ve reached an interesting agreement for both us and Inter without forgetting the player himself.

“Zinho grew up here and has become an exceptional young player. He’s shown we can count upon him and is a very precious player for us.”

Vanheusden was a first-choice centre-back for Michel Preud’homme’s side last year before a knee injury ruled him out of the end-of-season playoffs.
