Zanetti: “We Want Lautaro Martinez To Stay At Inter”

Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti has stressed that Inter want to keep Lautaro Martinez at the club amid reported interest from elsewhere in his services.

The Argentine striker is seemingly a target for Spanish giants Barcelona, who, as per reports, are willing to pay the 21-year-old’s €111 million release clause that is in his contract.

“We want the player to stay at Inter,” Zanetti explained in an interview with Argentine news outlet TyC Sports.

He added: “Have Barcelona made a move for him? No. Nothing has ever come to us from them.”

Lautaro joined Inter last Summer from Racing Club in his native Argentina and had a solid debut campaign in Nerazzurri.

He made 35 appearances across all competitions, 17 of which came as a starter. In 1761 minutes on the field, he scored a respectable nine goals and provided two assists for his Inter teammate. With thanks to his Inter form, he also broke into the Argentine national team where he has scored six goals in 11 appearances.
