Inter have only 10 days left to agree a deal for Romelu Lukaku, Gazzetta dello Sport warned this morning.
The Premier League’s transfer window closes on 8 August and Manchester United would need time to secure a replacement if they sold Lukaku.
Inter are expected to make another official offer tomorrow which will move closer to the Red Devils’ €83 million asking price.
“The Nerazzurri will have to move towards the €80 million mark if they want a chance of securing Lukaku,” Gazzetta wrote.
“Their only feasible strategy is to offer a lot of add-ons, with an up-front offer which doesn’t drop below €70 million.”
Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio have not flown with the first team to Singapore today as they continue to work on deals for Lukaku and Edin Dzeko.
United would allow Inter to split their payment for Lukaku into two installments, but the Nerazzurri could only afford the deal if it were spread across three years.
Talks are reaching a ‘do-or-die’ stage after Piero Ausilio met some club representatives in London last week.
Inter are no closer to signing Dzeko, meanwhile, as talks with Roma remain on standby.
Neither club has any particular doubt over how the saga will end but at the moment neither wants to make the first move towards the other.
Dzeko is ‘impatient’ to join Inter and will not be able to take part in Inter’s summer tour like Antonio Conte had hoped.
George Puscas will be flying to Singapore instead, underlining the fact Inter are a long way off agreeing a deal for the Bosnian.
