Mauro Icardi has agreed to leave Inter after the forward finally accepted he has no future at the club, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Nerazzurri’s former captain had threatened to put his foot down and stay with Inter until his contract expires in two years.
However, Icardi has now realised his current situation is unsustainable, that Antonio Conte will never give him a second chance and that it’s best for his career to move elsewhere.
Juventus and Napoli are both prepared to sign the 26-year-old, but they will have to make Inter a satisfactory offer and agree personal terms with Wanda Nara.
Confusion has reigned among supporters this summer as Inter and Icardi refused to budge on their hard-line positions.
There are no longer any doubts over the fact he will never wear the black-and-blue shirts again, though.
Wanda is currently on holiday with the couple’s children in Ibiza, so neither Juve nor Napoli can begin talks with her imminently.
The paper assured Icardi had given up on hoping Inter would change their mind, though, opening the door to the most acrimonious of departures.
