Lautaro Martinez has played down rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona and insisted he is ‘very happy’ at Inter.
Reports in the Spanish media recently suggested the Catalan giants were eager to trigger his €120 million release clause, just twelve months after the forward joined the Nerazzurri.
Lautaro last night assured he had never spoken to his agent about Barca, though, as he prepares to return for preseason.
“I’ve spoken with the new coach and I want to return to the club and begin the new campaign,” El Toro told Fox Sport Radio.
Argentina reached the semi-finals of this summer’s Copa America and Lautaro was one of the Albiceleste’s shining lights, scoring in wins against Qatar and Venezuela.
“It was a very positive tournament for a lot of players who were representing their country for the first time,” he explained.
“I gave the best of myself and I racked up a lot of game-time. We all need to make the national team a priority and get back to being a powerhouse which wins trophies.”
Lautaro also backed Lionel Scaloni to continue as head coach for the upcoming World Cup qualification campaign.
“He’s very direct and he’s always conducted himself well with us,” the 21-year-old added.
