Inter Defender D’Ambrosio: “We Played Well Against Juventus, I Hope Fans Are Happy”

Danilo D’Ambrosio was confident Inter had done enough to keep their local fans happy despite losing to Juventus on penalties in Nanjing.

Matthijs De Ligt’s early own goal was cancelled out by Cristiano Ronaldo’s deflected free-kick before the Bianconeri won the shoot-out 4-3.

D’Ambrosio played the full 90 minutes at the Olympic Sports Centre and spoke to Sportitalia pitch-side.

“It’s not nice to lose these matches, especially on penalties, because we were eager to win,” the defender said.

“We played well in the first half, but then the tempo dropped after half-time and Juventus had a few more chances.

“The support from the stands made us happy and we hope our fans are happy as well.”

Inter’s final match on their tour of Asia will take place against Paris Saint-Germain in Macao on Saturday.

Antonio Conte’s side will then play Tottenham and Valencia upon their return to Europe, with the new Serie A campaign due to kick off on 24 August.
