Romelu Lukaku wants to secure a move to Inter quickly but time is rapidly running out, Gazzetta dello Sport reported this morning.
The Belgian flew back home on Friday after Manchester United returned from their preseason tour in Asia, hoping talks with the Nerazzurri would accelerate.
But Inter cannot increase their previous offer of €65 million, which United have rejected, until they have sold either Mauro Icardi or Ivan Perisic.
Suning have made it clear they are otherwise incapable of meeting the €83.5 million asking price, because they would violate Financial Fair Play rules.
Juventus have entered the race for Lukaku now after Fabio Paratici offered Paulo Dybala to United in a swap deal.
The Bianconeri may simply be attempting to disrupt Inter’s plans with this move, though, because Gonzalo Higuain, Mario Mandzukic and Moise Kean would all have to leave before Lukaku arrived.
Dybala is determined to stay in Turin at all costs and cut his summer holidays short to begin preseason training earlier than scheduled.
United are certainly interested in La Joya but it remains to be seen whether they can change his mind.
Inter can do nothing but wait for the moment, and the clock is ticking down towards the end of the Premier League’s transfer window on 8 August.
Lukaku still hopes he can join up with Antonio Conte in Milan, but he is beginning to realise there is a chance it will not happen for him.
His agent Federico Pastorello has been mediating between Inter and United over the last few weeks, but there have not been any significant developments recently.
