Mauro Icardi’s Bid To Earn Second Chance At Inter Is ‘Mission Impossible’

Mauro Icardi’s bid to convince Inter to give him a second chance at the club was described as ‘mission impossible’ by Tuttosport this morning.

Those close to the forward assure he still believes he can talk the Nerazzurri’s hierarchy round, despite missing the preseason tour in Asia.

Icardi is the only person who thinks this is possible, though, with everybody else already planning for life beyond the 26-year-old.

Steven Zhang confirmed Inter’s desire to get rid of their former captain earlier this week, backing up comments made previously by both Beppe Marotta and Antonio Conte.

Inter are aware they cannot demand €110 million for Icardi, as is written in his release clause, but the Turin-based paper was doubtful they could even recoup €60 million.

Icardi is unlikely to move until the final two weeks of the transfer window and at that point clubs interested will not want to offer more than €40-45 million.

Juventus are the only club still keen on the 26-year-old after Napoli turned their attention to Lille forward Nicolas Pepe.

The Partneopei have seemingly missed out on the Senegalese international, according to reports in England today, but they would nevertheless only pursue Icardi again if they could swap him for Arkadiusz Milik.

Roma were also linked, but this would depend on Inter accepting Edin Dzeko and around €40 million in cash in a part-exchange deal.

Zhang told reporters back in February that Icardi was part of Inter’s family and would never be sold to Juventus.

A lot has changed since then, though, because Maurito has no future whatsoever with the club now.
