Antonio Conte Praises Inter’s ‘Improving Mentality’ After PSG Penalty Win

Antonio Conte praised Inter’s never-say-die attitude after the Nerazzurri defeated Paris Saint-Germain on penalties today.

Samuele Longo scored a stoppage-time equaliser in Macao to cancel out Thilo Kehrer’s first-half opener, taking the International Super Cup clash to a shoot-out.

Inter prevailed 6-5 from the spot and led Conte to laud his players’ resilience after falling behind.

The Italian told Inter TV: “I keep seeing important improvements in the team’s mentality. We can never be happy with a defeat, even on penalties in a friendly. The right attitude is to be not be happy about losing, until the final whistle.

“The lads are showing they’re enthusiastic to play football, they’re pressing high in the opposition half and they want to get the ball back immediately when we lose it. This is very, very positive.

“I’m very happy for sure, because for what we saw on the pitch we definitely didn’t deserve to lose.”

Conte also thanked the players for their willingness to follow his instructions, adding that this made him excited for what was to come.

Inter will return to Europe this evening and take two days off before resuming training at Appiano Gentile on Tuesday.

The Nerazzurri’s last two friendly matches will then take place against Tottenham and Valencia in August.
