Inter have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for their outgoing midfielder Ivan Perisic, according to German tabloid newspaper BILD.
The Bundesliga champions would sign the Croatian on loan with an option to buy for €30 million, having missed out on Manchester City forward Leroy Sane.
Perisic has yet to accept a move and his decision could be influenced by the fact Bayern are unlikely to sign him permanently, once the season-long loan has expired.
Bayern are looking for a stopgap who can give their first-choice wingers some rest throughout the season, accelerating talks with Inter this week.
Sane was their first-choice target on the left wing but he will now be ruled out for up to seven months after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament.
Reports in Italy earlier this week suggested Bayern were the only club who could convince Perisic to make a Bundesliga return, having declined interest from RB Leipzig.
Perisic spent four seasons in Germany before joining Inter in 2015, with two years each between Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg.
He scored nine goals for Inter last year but is now surplus to requirements due to Antonio Conte’s new 3-5-2 system.
