Inter will fight Juventus to sign Fiorentina forward Federico Chiesa next summer, according to Corriere della Sera.
Chiesa was expected to leave the Viola this year but new owner Rocco Commisso refused to sell him after completing his takeover.
Juventus were strong favourites to sign the Italy international, having reportedly agreed personal terms shortly after the end of last season.
Fiorentina’s decision to hold onto Chiesa for another twelve months will allow Beppe Marotta to regain ground on his former club, though.
Inter and Juventus have locked horns during this current transfer window over Romelu Lukaku, Mauro Icardi and Paulo Dybala.
The Derby d’Italia appears set to return in 2020, however, when Fiorentina will be almost certain to let Chiesa depart.
Chiesa endured mixed fortunes in Florence last season as Vincenzo Montella’s side narrowly escaped a shocking relegation to Serie B.
He nevertheless remains one of Italian football’s most exciting young talents and is destined to join a more ambitious club soon.
