Inter are hoping to complete a deal to sign Alexis Sanchez today, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Nerazzurri have asked Manchester United for a free loan with an option to buy and will receive a response from the Reds’ executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward later.
If Woodward agrees to Inter’s terms Sanchez will fly to Milan tomorrow and begin his new adventure with Antonio Conte.
The forward will become the second player to make the switch from United to Inter this month, following the arrival of Romelu Lukaku two weeks ago.
Confirmation of talks between the clubs being at an advanced stage arrived last night when Sanchez was left out of United’s match-day squad to play Wolves.
Conte is anxiously awaiting the Chilean’s arrival at Appiano Gentile, which should mark the end of Inter’s transfer business up front.
Sanchez is eager to get going at Inter and has agreed to take a wage cut from next season, should the Nerazzurri sign him on a permanent deal.
United and Inter will each pay half of the 30-year-old’s salary this year, although the forward’s agent Fernando Felicevich is still working to reach a complete agreement.
Sanchez is looking forward to being reunited with Lukaku in Milan, with whom he is said to have struck up a ‘splendid’ friendship at United.
GdS suggested Conte was one of the few coaches in world football at the moment who could be trusted to kick-start El Niño Maravilla’s career.
